Membership FAQ

Meadowland Quilt made by Kyona.

Do I have to live in Philadelphia to be in the guild?

Nope!  We have members from Philadelphia, New Jersey, Bucks, Lehigh, Chester and Montgomery Counties and more.

Where and when do you meet?

We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7-9pm in Elkins Park, PA... Just north of Philadelphia.  Most meetings are also via ZOOM .

We also host sew-ins, lectures/workshops and sewing retreats throughout the year.

Can I come to a meeting first, before joining to see if I like it?

You bet!  We encourage potential guild members to come out to a meeting to see if we're a good fit.

What if I'm a newbie quilter? Is there a place for me?

Of course!  One of the best things about joining a guild is that you can draw on the experience of other quilters.  We're a friendly bunch and are always happy to share tips and tricks.   Some of our members have been quilting for six months, while others have been at it for 30+ years.   We welcome diversity in both style and experience.

How many members do you have?

We have over 85 paying members online.  Meetings usually draw around 30-40 people.

Do you have dues?

Yes we have annual dues of $75.  (Dues help to cover the awesome guest lecturers we host throughout the year at meetings and Modern Quilt Guild membership.)

What are the benefits of joining the Philadelphia Modern Quilt Guild?

Aside from joining a group of like-minded quilters, you'll also get the opportunity to participate in workshops and hear amazing guest lecturers speak at meetings throughout the year.  Your membership gives you the ability to take part in guild swaps, bees, challenges and contests.  When you join the Philly MQG, you will also automatically become a member of the Modern Quilt Guild (the international association of modern guilds).
